DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have figured out what they need to do to beat the Boston Bruins. Detroit used its skill to win Game 1 against the Presidents Trophy-winning Bruins. Boston evened its first-round series against the eighth-seeded Red Wings by beating them up physically. The Red Wings want to flip the script in Game 3 on Tuesday night when the series shifts to Joe Louis Arena. Detroit defenceman Brendan Smith said emotions got the best of him when he stood skate to skate and face to chest with Bostons 6-foot-9 defenceman, Zdeno Chara, during Sundays game. Smith said the Red Wings have to play their fast-paced game and avoid trying to get physical with the bigger, bruising Bruins. Here are five things to watch when the series resumes in Detroit: PLAY POOL OR FIGHT?: Detroit does not want to play Bostons game. Red Wings coach Mike Babcock explained why in quite a unique way on Monday, when he was asked what his message was to Smith about challenging Chara. "You walk into the bar and theres this beautiful young gal standing next to this 6-foot-5 monster, who you know makes his living fighting for a living and youre the best pool player in the bar," Babcock said. "Are you going to play pool or are you going to fight?" LOUI, LOUI!: Bruins forward Loui Eriksson failed to play up to high expectations during the regular season after Boston traded Tyler Seguin -- a young, rising star -- to the Dallas Stars for him last summer. Eriksson had 10 goals and 37 points in 61 games, a far cry from the 70-plus seasons in each of the three years before the lockout-shortened season, at least in part because of a concussion that kept him out of the lineup. In the playoffs, Eriksson has been healthy and productive. The Swede assisted on the first goal of Sundays 4-1 win and is one of just six players on his team with a positive plus-minus rating through two games against Detroit. "Loui has just been good for us ever since he got over those injuries," Bruins coach Claude Julien said. ISNT THAT SPECIAL: Boston evened the best-of-seven series because it took advantage of power plays, and didnt let Detroit score with an extra skater. The Bruins scored on two of four power plays and held Detroit to 0 for 4 when it had a man advantage in Game 2. "Were in the box for too many penalties and down the road that can hurt you," Bruins coach Claude Julien said Monday before his team travelled to Detroit. "So playing within the rules and being physical is part of our strength, so we have to be that team." The Red Wings have scored only one power-play goal in 19 chances over the last five games overall. NYQUIST, NILL: Detroits Gustav Nyquist does not have one goal in the eight games since he skated around Chara and scored the game-winner in a 3-2 victory over Boston on April 2. With that goal, he had scored 23 times in 28 games after having just 63 NHL games of experience. Alex Ovechkin and Pavel Bure were the only other NHL players who had pulled off that feat since the 1989-90 season. "Suddenly, instead of being a guy nobody ever heard of, like last year in the playoffs, youre a guy they heard of," Babcock said. "His space is probably a little harder to come by. HOLDING SERVE: The Red Wings took home-ice advantage by opening the series with a 1-0 victory on Pavel Datsyuks dazzling play and sharp shot, and they hope to keep it by winning Game 3 on Tuesday night and Game 4 on Thursday night. After the first two games were split on the road, Smith insisted where games are played do play a factor. "For sure, it matters," Smith said. "I any series, home ice matters. ... I think coming back home is going to help us a lot." Cheap Nike Free Online . At a news conference Tuesday where it was thought that the fiery Schallibaum may be shown the door after a dismal finish to the Major League Soccer season, team president Joey Saputo said no decision has been made on whether the Swiss Volcano will be back in 2014.CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Panthers starting free safety Charles Godfrey is out for the remainder of the season with a torn right Achilles tendon, adding to the teams troubles following a 0-2 start. Team spokesman Charlie Dayton made the announcement Monday shortly after coach Ron Riveras press conference. Godfrey, a six-year-starter for the Panthers, sustained the injury during the second half of Carolinas 24-23 loss to Buffalo on Sunday while breaking up a pass to Bills wide receiver Stevie Johnson in the corner of the end zone. Godfreys injury is a huge blow to a secondary that was already considered the weak link in Carolinas defence. Godfrey, who has started 74 career games, is considered the secondarys best player. But his injury might not be Carolinas only concern in the secondary as they prepare to host the New York Giants on Sunday. Rivera said the Panthers will re-evaluate the teams other four injured defensive backs -- Quintin Mikell (foot), Josh Thomas (concussion), Josh Norman (thigh) and DJ Moore (knee) -- on Wednesday when they return to practice. Mikell and Thomas both left the game Sunday and did not return. Norman and Moore were also injured, but returned to the game later on. Rivera said if Mikell cant play the Panthers would look att Moore and Colin Jones as potential replacements for Godfrey.dddddddddddd If Thomas is unable to start at cornerback, the Panthers could turn to James Dockery and Melvin White, a pair of young players whove been inactive the last two games. The team is also considering bringing in free agents from outside the organization. Rivera said losing the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Godfrey is difficult because hes made tremendous strides since being moved from strong safety to free safety last season and had become the leader in the secondary. "Since then hes played about as well as you would like to have a free safety play," Rivera said. "Hes put himself in position to make plays and hes done the type of things you need to do to have success. "The thing youve seen is his growth. You see him doing things that a veteran defensive player is supposed to do -- giving false reads, giving bad reads to an opponent and disguising his coverages by moving in and out of coverages. You hate to see it happen because hes a guy who has really found his niche at free safety for us. You would love to have him, but we dont." Last year Eli Manning threw for 288 yards and a touchdown as the Giants defeated the Panthers 36-7 in Charlotte.
