Lamar Jackson and No. 3 Louisville go from playing the main event last week to the side stage this week. The Cardinals head to Marshall after jumping into the national title race by tearing up Florida State at home last week. Louisville certainly isnt the first team to play a huge game and then hit the road to play a lesser opponent, but it is not too often you see a team in a Power Five conference go from hosting GameDay to playing at a Group of Five school a week later.Jackson and the Cardinals are talented enough to avoid a letdown, but it should be interesting to see how they respond to being the hunted in Huntington, W.Va., where a salty crowd should be revved up for an 8 p.m. kickoff at Joan C. Edwards Stadium. CBS Sports Network is airing the game.At No. 3, Louisville matches the highest ranking of any team to visit the Thundering Herd. Marshall has just two victories against ranked teams since joining FBS in 1997, the last in 2003 when the Herd beat No. 6 Kansas State. More relevant, Marshall is coming off a 65-38 loss to Akron. So it should be another stat-padding game for Jackson.No. 13 Florida State faces a similar and likely more challenging road test Saturday. The Seminoles play unbeaten South Florida from the American Athletic Conference in Tampa. The showcase games Saturday are mostly in the Southeastern Conference, with three matchups of ranked teams, and over in the Big Ten where No. 11 Wisconsin faces No. 8 Michigan State. The picks:MarshallTHURSDAY NIGHT MADNESSNo. 5 Clemson (minus 9+) at Georgia TechThe Tigers have won three of the last five, but the Yellow Jackets have scored at least 24 points in each game and averaged 29 ... It was just business as usual for the Thunder at home. Durant scored 32 points and the Thunder beat the Bulls 107-95 on Thursday night for their eighth straight win. Coach Luke Beveridge isnt worried about Western Bulldogs recent poor record in Perth, saying his AFL side wont focus on that trend, the venue or a raucous crowd on Thursday night. The Bulldogs have lost their past seven clashes in Western Australia, with the most recent being a 20-point loss to Fremantle in the final round of the regular season. The stretch includes four lopsided defeats to West Coast, who they face in an elimination final. We dont talk about that, Beveridge said of his sides losing streak at Domain Stadium. But that parochial home-ground advantage is there. Lets not dodge around the fact that there will be a pretty boisterous West Coast Eagles fan base and well have to deal with that.Well have to manage that and there are ways to do that.I dont think our players will be nervous about making mistakes. I dont think our players will be conscious of the crowd too much. The Bulldogs away form has been reasonable since Beveridge started his reign in 2015.Notably the Dogs have defeated minor premiers Sydney in their past two trips to the SCG, while this year they pipped Port Adelaide by three points at Adelaide Oval.We probably wont talk about that but its there in the memory banks, Beveridge said. That helps with your belief levels ... the boys will ddraw on some of that in their preparation.ddddddddddddThe Bulldogs have opted against training at Domain this week and instead plan on having a light run at the WACA.Most players are flying out a day later than usual and will arrive on Wednesday afternoon.Theres a couple of things that are different. Not as a knee-jerk reaction (to losing to the Dockers a fortnight ago), Beveridge said. Our of necessity more than anything, in timing our run to the game.Beveridge insisted belief wouldnt be an issue for the Bulldogs, who have been widely tipped to exit the premiership race in week one of the finals. We know that its going to be hard for West Coast to beat us ... well go in thinking were as good as anyone in the eight, he said.Beveridge is expected to recall Tom Liberatore.
