The Rocket Leagues Championship Series kicked off this weekend with the EU and North American leagues hosting their Regional Championships to decide the seedings ahead of the grand finals in Amsterdam next month. First up were the North American regionals where the opening match between Orbit and Take 3 should have been a close one to call, since both teams had proven themselves during the league phase. Next up came NRG eSports against Genesis and, though the latter side had been posting good performances of late, it wasnt enough to hold back NRG who went on to win the series with ease. The result put Genesis and Take 3 into the third-place playoff, where Take 3s recent run of poor results continued and Genesis claimed third seed with a comfortable 4-1 victory. The North American regional final proved to be a close one, surprisingly going to NRG as opposed to the rampant Orbit, who had been performing so well of late. The EU Regional Championship saw Northern Gaming, MockIt Aces, Flipsid3 Tactics and Precision Z vying for the number one seed. The first game between Northern Gaming and MockIt Aces didnt disappoint. These two teams are perhaps the best in Rocket League right now and the match was the closest fought of the weekend, with many games in the series going into overtime. In the end, Northern Gaming came out on top taking the series 4-3.The second game, between Flipsid3 Tactics and Precision Z was a completely different story, Precision Z struggling to subdue an overwhelming F3 attacking threat, and losing the series 4-1. What is Rocket League? Cars and football - what more could you really want? Precision Zs disappointment continued in the third-place playoff, as they were beaten in a clean 4-0 sweep by MockIt. It wasnt all doom and gloom for Precision Z who played handily at times against MockIt, but they need to follow up their early leads in the upcoming grand finals if they intend on avoiding early elimination. The final of the European play-offs provided perhaps the biggest shock of the weekend, with Northern Gaming losing 4-0 to Flipsid3 Tactics. F3s dismantling of Northern Gaming left spectators and experts equally surprised by the ease of victory.Northern Gaming can be content with gaining Europes second seed, while Flipsid3 Tactics top seeding guarantees them the easiest route into the world grand finals of RLCS.The international grand final of Rocket Leagues Championship Series takes place on December 3 2016.Upgrade to Sky Sports now to watch Man Utd v Arsenal this Saturday and get the first six months half price!
