INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts have taken their share of punches over the past two seasons. On Sunday, they again showed they can throw a few, too.One day after the struggling Colts pulled off a shocking victory at Green Bay, they returned home with a punchers chance of getting back into the playoff race.We have a bunch of fighters on this team, defensive tackle David Parry said Monday. When you get backed into a corner, youre either going to fight or youre going to quit, and were not going to quit. The Colts (4-5) certainly have shown their ability to counterpunch time after time. They didnt go down when coach Chuck Pagano missed 11 games while battling leukemia in 2012. They won the AFC South in 2013 after Reggie Wayne incurred a season-ending knee injury in Week 7. They repeated as division champs in 2014 despite an 0-2 start, and last season Indy went 8-8 though Andrew Luck missed nine games. Its no different this year.Four times, Indys season appeared on the verge of collapse and each time the Colts fought back. The run started in Week 3, when the winless Colts used a fourth-quarter rally to get past San Diego. Two weeks later, against the reeling Chicago Bears, Indy found itself on the ropes again -- until another Andrew Lucks rally saved the day. Two weeks after that, the Colts were staring at a possible 0-3 start in division play until scoring two touchdowns in the final two minutes to win at Tennessee. So when the Colts headed to Green Bay on Sunday, following a loss to Kansas City and amid questions about coach Chuck Paganos job security heading into the bye week, the Colts delivered again. This time, Indy strung together its most complete game of the season and walked with away with its first win at Lambeau Field since 1988.We needed it. We needed it for ourselves, I think, Luck said after the game. We know we can be a good team. There are things we have to clean up and we have to stack these together. We needed this in a bad way.Last season, Pagano went through a similar scenario, with the Colts cranking out victories in every must-win game except one, a stretch that included another improbable early November victory over eventual Super Bowl champion Denver. The lone loss, at home to Houston, wound up costing the Colts their third straight division crown and their fourth consecutive playoff appearance. So why does Indianapolis save its best for the high-stakes games? Even Pagano cant really explain it.When our backs are against the wall, I dont think theres anyone thats better, he said. We dont need to be there, thats of our own doing. But weve learned from everything weve been through to this point, and I think you have to fight through some stuff to get to where you want to get to.Now he needs to see improved play over the crucial final seven games.A loss to Tennessee on Nov. 20 could throw a monkey wrench into their division hopes. Four days later, theyll host a Thanksgiving night game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Then Indy hits the road for three of the next four: at the New York Jets, at Minnesota and at Oakland, with only home games against Houston and Jacksonville left. All seven could be considered must-win games. But the good news is thats typically when the Colts come out swinging.Weve got to stay hungry and weve got to understand and remember this feeling. This is why you do what you do, Pagano said. Im excited about where we are right now.---For more NFL coverage: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP-NFLZapatillas Baratas Outlet España . JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Daryl Smith strolled around Jacksonvilles practice fields Wednesday without a helmet or shoulder pads.It was probably a good thing he got the day off.The Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker spent most of the joint practice with the Jaguars chatting and laughing with former teammates and coaches.I think he had so many tackles on those fields that his tackle card had been punched, Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said.Indeed, Smith spent the first nine years of his NFL career in Jacksonville and left as the franchises all-time leader in tackles, with 1,089. After missing 14 games in 2012 because of a groin injury, new Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell decided not to re-sign Smith even though he wanted to end his career in Jacksonville. So Smith ended up in Baltimore, where he started every game the last three seasons (2013-15) and recorded 372 tackles and five interceptions. He landed in Tampa Bay for his 13th season and is slated to start at strong-side linebacker. You come into the league and you kind of have something in your head, said Smith, a second-round draft pick in 2004. For me, it was 10 years at first. And then once you reach a goal, you set a new goal. It really has flown by. Im still loving and enjoying the game. But I know you cant do it forever. Im just trying to soak up everything you can.He had plenty of time Wednesday to soak up his first trip to Jacksonville in nearly 4 1/2 years. He hugged former teammate Paul Posluszny, visited with Jaguars strength and conditioning coordinator Tom Myslinski, had a lengthy conversation with former teammate and current Jaguars scout Greg Jones and even spoke with Jaguars coach Gus Bradley during a break. Smith also was popular with autograph-seeking fans after practice. One of the best guys and one of the best football players Ive ever been around, Posluszny said. I wish I could have played with him more because you love to be around those type of guys.ddddddddddddSmith wasnt the only one making a return to his former stomping grounds. The Jaguars drafted two current Bucs: punter Bryan Anger in 2012 and running back Storm Johnson in 2014. Tampa Bays coaches have even more ties to Jacksonville. Koetter was the Jaguars offensive coordinator for five years (2007-11). Bucs offensive coordinator Todd Monken spent four years (2007-10) in Jacksonville. Bucs defensive coordinator Mike Smith held the same position in Jacksonville for five years (2003-07).Throw in linebackers coach Mark Duffner (2006-13 in Jacksonville), special teams coordinator Nate Kaczor (2008-11) and assistant defensive line coach Paul Spicer (2000-08 in Jacksonville as a player), and Tampa Bays coaching staff shouldnt have had problems getting around Jacksonville.Koetter still has a home in the area.Id be glad to sell it, Koetter said.Daryl Smith has no regrets about his near decade with the Jags. He was a defensive mainstay for Jacksonville, teaming with fellow linebacker Mike Peterson and giving the Jaguars one of the best tandems in the league. Had it not been for that groin injury that cost him all but the final two games of the 2012 season, he might be finishing his career in Jacksonville.Things always work out the way theyre supposed to, Smith said. I didnt want to leave in the first place, but at the same time, I guess it had to happen. I learned a lot since Ive been gone and theyve been getting better and better every year. Thats just the way its supposed to be.I cant never look back and say I wish this didnt happen or whatever. The past is the past. You just learn from it and you move on. All the memories and friendships that I have here, thats forever.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: http://twitter.com/AP-NFL ' ' '
